Hello, and welcome to our very new and exciting quarterly emails

Introduction

Many of you to whom this email will reach, have held pensions and investments, as well as other financial products with us for some time. We thank you for your continued loyalty, and your business is vital for us and never taken for granted. As such, in return, we thought you may like an email sent on a quarterly basis, with tips and useful information on all thing’s financial.

We may also share a glimpse of life here within IFS.

World of investments

April this year the new annual allowance came into play, which means you can now put up to £60,000 into your pension plan per financial year, subsequently first and foremost boosting your retirement income. This is across all pension plans, and if you’re a basic rate taxpayer you’d only have to put £48,000 of this amount away, the remainder being topped up by HMRC. Of course, I’m a realist and I appreciate even the latter amount will be out of reach, but the principle is the same at any level of contribution. For all intense and purpose, it’s like a 20% interest rate. The other caveat to mention of course is, once in a pension environment, it’s locked away until (at the earliest) age 55.

But I’m sure I’ll have made many of you aware of this already.

I guess it would be fair to say it’s been another turbulent year in the world of finance, without boring you all too much I just want to add some reassurance on that note. I’m constantly monitoring investment values and although this year has been volatile, I am seeing values back up on the rise which just solidifies what I believe, a pension is a long term investment, and keep the faith.

IFS updates

As you may know by now or not, we handed the keys in to 50a Willis Way earlier this year, and we’ve now had a lovely office built for us in the garden of our Wimborne home (those who have not seen it, always welcome for coffee whenever in the area). The last few years saw the usual staffing issues and all that has to come with that! Kirsty and I decided we want to work a little more on that work life balance as opposed to staff dramas. So far it’s going well, married in May and still alive writing this email.

Useful tips

Those of you with regular saver accounts now is a good time to look at what new accounts are on the
